Sense Path

Frequently Asked Questions

Account & Login

How do I create an account?

Visit app.sensepath.org/sign-up, enter your name, email, and password, and click Sign Up. You can start using Sense Path immediately with up to 2 free profiles.

I previously used Making Sense or BSensory — can I still log in?

Yes. Sense Path is the new name for the same app. Your existing login details will work. Simply log in at app.sensepath.org/login with your existing email and password.

I've forgotten my password. How do I reset it?

On the login page, click Forgot Password? and enter your email address. You will receive a password reset email within a few minutes. Check your spam/junk folder if it doesn't arrive.

Can multiple staff members use the same account?

No — each staff member should have their own individual account. If you need multiple staff to access shared profiles, set up an Organisation. See the Organisation Setup Guide.

Profiles & Assessments

What is a "profile"?

A profile represents a child whose sensory needs you are assessing. Each profile stores the child's identifier, all their assessments, sensory plans, and progress data.

Do I have to use the child's full name?

No. You can use any identifier you choose — first name, initials, a student ID number, or a pseudonym. Sense Path does not require personally identifiable information. This is useful for schools with strict data protection policies.

How many profiles can I create?

The free plan allows up to 2 profiles. Paid plans increase in increments of 5 profiles (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, etc.). Visit sensepath.org for current plans and pricing.

What happens if I reach my profile limit?

If you've reached your profile limit, you'll be prompted to upgrade. You are allowed to complete one grace assessment beyond your limit so you are not interrupted mid-workflow, but you will need to upgrade before adding further profiles.

How do I delete a profile?

Open the child's Profile Page and click Delete. You will be asked to confirm. This permanently removes the profile and all associated assessments, plans, and data.

Can I edit a profile's name after creating it?

Currently, you can edit profiles from the Profile Edit page. Navigate to the profile and look for the edit option.

Assessments

How long does an assessment take?

Typically 10–15 minutes. The assessment consists of 60 true/false questions, so it's quick to complete once you're familiar with the child.

Who should complete the assessment?

The assessment should be completed by someone who knows the child well and can observe their day-to-day behaviour — typically a teacher, teaching assistant, SENCO, or other support staff.

Can I complete an assessment over multiple sessions?

Currently, assessments are designed to be completed in a single session. If you need to pause, your answers remain on screen as long as you don't navigate away, but they are not saved until you click Save.

How often should I reassess?

Best practice recommends reassessing every 4–6 weeks. If you are working in schools, we recommend every 6 weeks as this aligns with most schools' half-term cycles. Regular reassessment allows you to track progress over time and adjust sensory plans as needed.

What do the scores mean?

Each sensory category is scored based on how many behaviours were marked as "True". Higher scores indicate more observed sensory-seeking or sensory-avoiding behaviours in that area, suggesting greater sensory needs that may benefit from targeted support.

Sensory Plans & Guidance

What are sensory plans?

Sensory plans are automatically generated programmes of activities tailored to the child's assessment results. They come in three durations (12, 16, and 20 minutes) and contain targeted activities addressing the child's primary sensory needs. These plans are designed to develop the child's neuropathways for those senses.

Can I regenerate a plan?

Yes. On the Assessment Page, click Regenerate Plan for any of the three plan durations. This will generate a new set of activities. Note that the previous plan will be replaced.

What are environmental adjustments?

Environmental adjustments are practical changes you can make to the classroom or school environment to better support a child's sensory needs. Sense Path recommends adjustments based on assessment results, and you can tick them off as you implement them.

What are sensory circuits?

Sensory circuits are structured, movement-based programmes designed to regulate arousal levels. They combine three types of activities: alerting (to wake up the senses), organising (to structure sensory input), and calming (to help the child regulate). If a child is presenting in high arousal, select a calming circuit. If a child is in low arousal, select alerting. If a child is regulated and needs to remain regulated, select balanced. They can be run as a short session before lessons.

How often should I do sensory interventions?

Good practice recommends sensory interventions daily for around 20 minutes. However, within school constraints this may not always be possible — even 10 minutes twice a week can make a meaningful difference. Do as much as you can, as often as you can.

If I complete the assessment, do I have to deliver the interventions myself?

No. You can complete the assessment and delegate delivery to others. Sense Path is designed so you can share or print the interventions. Each intervention includes descriptions and time allocations so that anyone can follow them.

Do I need to have completed any training?

No — Sense Path is designed to be used without prior training. The assessment uses simple true/false questions and all plans and interventions are generated with clear instructions. That said, we do recommend professional development where possible. Visit our training page for upcoming training days.

Organisations

What is an organisation in Sense Path?

An organisation allows multiple staff accounts at the same school to share profiles under one subscription. All members can view and assess shared profiles.

How do I set up an organisation?

See our Organisation Setup Guide for step-by-step instructions. In short: the account holder creates an organisation, names it, and then invites other staff by email.

Can organisation members see each other's profiles?

Yes. All profiles created by any member of the organisation are visible to all other members. This is designed to support collaborative working across a school.

What happens to shared profiles if a member leaves?

Profiles remain in the organisation. If a member is removed, their personally-created profiles stay accessible to the rest of the organisation.

Subscriptions & Billing

How much does Sense Path cost?

Sense Path is free for up to 2 profiles. Paid plans increase in increments of 5 profiles. Visit sensepath.org for current plans and pricing.

Can we pay by invoice?

Yes. Schools can pay by invoice directly through the app. Choose your plan, select "Pay by Invoice", and enter your billing details. An invoice with 14 days to pay will be emailed to you. See the Invoicing Guide for details.

Can we pay by purchase order?

Yes. Include your PO number when contacting us about your subscription, and we can include it on the invoice. If you have already received an invoice and need a PO number added, contact us and we will re-issue the invoice with the updated details.

How do I manage my subscription?

You can manage your subscription (upgrade, downgrade, update payment details, view invoices) via the Subscription Portal, accessible from the Upgrade page in the app.

What happens when my subscription expires?

Your account remains active and your data is preserved. You will still be able to log in and view existing profiles and assessments, but you won't be able to create new profiles beyond the free limit of 2 until you renew.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are available in certain circumstances, such as our material breach of service. Contact us to discuss.
