Frequently Asked Questions

Account and login

How do I create an account?

Visit app.sensepath.org/sign-up, enter your name, email, and password, then choose your role. A workspace is created for you automatically with a free 6-week trial — no card required.

I've forgotten my password.

On the login page, click Forgot password? and enter your email. A reset link will arrive within a few minutes — check spam/junk if it doesn't.

Can multiple staff members share one account?

No — each person should have their own account. To share profiles across a school, set up a workspace and invite colleagues. See Workspace setup.

Can I belong to more than one workspace?

Yes. A single account can be a member of multiple workspaces — useful if you work across schools or trusts. Switch between them from the sidebar.

Profiles and assessments

What is a "profile"?

A profile represents one child you're assessing. It holds the child's identifier, their assessments, generated plans, saved circuits, and progress over time.

Do I have to use the child's full name?

No. Use whatever identifier your school prefers — first name, initials, a student ID, or a pseudonym. Sense Path doesn't require personally identifiable information.

How long does an assessment take?

About 10–15 minutes. It's 60 true/false questions across six sensory areas.

Who should complete the assessment?

Someone who knows the child well — typically a teacher, teaching assistant, SENCO, therapist, or parent.

Can I pause an assessment and come back later?

Yes. Your progress is auto-saved as a draft as you go. Drafts appear in the profile's assessment list until you complete them.

How often should I reassess?

Every 6 weeks is a good rhythm. In schools, that lines up with half-term cycles. Regular reassessment lets you track progress and adjust plans.

How do I delete a profile?

Open the profile, click the menu, and choose Delete. This permanently removes the profile and everything attached to it.

Plans, circuits, and adjustments

What are sensory plans?

Three short programmes of activities at 12, 16, and 20 minutes, automatically generated from the assessment results. Activities are selected based on which senses scored highest, weighted toward any focus goals you've set.

Can I regenerate or swap activities in a plan?

Yes. Change your focus goals and choose Regenerate plans for a fresh set, or click Edit plan to swap individual activities for alternatives.

What are environmental adjustments?

Practical changes to the classroom or environment to better support sensory needs — quiet zones, flexible seating, fidget breaks, and so on. Sense Path recommends them based on the assessment. You can mark them off as you put them in place.

What are sensory circuits?

Structured movement programmes that combine alerting, organising, and calming activities. Sense Path offers three circuit types:

  • Alerting — for a child in low arousal (sluggish, withdrawn)
  • Calming — for high arousal (overstimulated, anxious)
  • Regulating — a balanced spread for maintaining a regulated state

Circuits come in different durations (10–20 minutes depending on type) and individual activities can be swapped.

Yes. Once you've built a circuit you're happy with, save it to your workspace. You can then link it to one or more profiles so it appears on their profile page for easy access. Saved circuits can be reused, edited, or unlinked at any time.

How often should I deliver sensory interventions?

Daily for about 20 minutes is ideal. If that's not possible, 10 minutes twice a week is a realistic starting point. Consistency matters more than duration.

Do I need training to deliver interventions?

No. Plans and circuits include activity descriptions, durations, and any equipment notes. You can share them as PDFs with teaching assistants, parents, or anyone who'll be delivering them.

Focus

What is "focus"?

Focus lets you pick one or two goals you want a child's plans to concentrate on — for example, "Improve self-regulation" or "Sustain attention during reading tasks". When focus is set, the plan generator gives more weight to activities linked to those goals.

Do I have to set focus?

No. Plans work fine without it. Focus just makes them more targeted.

Can I change focus later?

Yes. Open the profile, change the focus goals, and choose Regenerate plans to update them.

Accessibility

Does Sense Path have accessibility settings?

Yes. On your Account page under Accessibility & Display you'll find settings for font size, OpenDyslexic font, text spacing, simplified view, reduced motion, colour schemes (warm and high-contrast), and colourblind-safe palettes (red-green and blue-yellow). Settings save to your account and follow you across devices.

Trial and billing

How does the free trial work?

Every new workspace gets a 6-week trial with room for up to 50 profiles. No card required. When the trial ends, you'll need to subscribe to continue using your workspace. Your data is kept safe — nothing is deleted.

How much does it cost?

Subscriptions are sized by profile allowance, from 5 to 100 profiles, in steps of 5. You can pay monthly or annually (annual saves two months). See sensepath.org for current prices.

Can we pay by invoice?

Yes. When you subscribe, choose Pay by invoice, enter your billing details and PO number, and an invoice will be emailed with 45 days to pay.

Can we pay by purchase order?

Yes. The invoice flow has a PO number field. If you've already received an invoice and need a PO added, contact us and we'll re-issue it.

How do I manage my subscription?

From your workspace settings, click Manage subscription to open the Stripe customer portal where you can change tier, update payment details, view invoices, or cancel.

Why can't I select a smaller plan?

The plan picker won't let you pick a tier with fewer profiles than you currently have. To downgrade, archive or delete profiles until your count fits the smaller tier.

What happens when my subscription ends?

Your workspace is preserved and you can still sign in, but you'll need to resubscribe to regain full access. Nothing is deleted.

Do you offer a free plan?

Yes, for parents, foster carers, kinship carers, and legal guardians using Sense Path with children at home. Sign up for the trial, then email contact@sensepath.org with the subject "Free plan application" and a brief note about your situation.
